Orchid Child Play Therapy

Orchid Child Play Therapy was created with the goal to provide an inclusive, supportive space for children who need extra support. Through the lens of Child-Centred and Synergetic Play Therapy, we hope to encourage children to develop their communication and emotional regulation skills, and assist them in reaching their full potential. We are passionate about neurodiversity and providing support for parents and families. 

Our goal is not to change children, but to celebrate them for who they are, and assist them in developing skills in areas that are difficult for them.  Whilst we are passionate about neurodiversity, including ASD and ADHD diagnoses, we recognise that every child that comes into our clinic will present with a unique set of symptoms, as every child is different. Our aim is to tailor our treatment to best support your child's current needs, in order to empower your child to feel confident and capable whilst also celebrating their strengths. 

It is important to us that parents feel supported throughout this process, and this will be a part of our treatment plan. We are also happy to facilitate communication with third parties, such as schools or other specialists involved in your child's care. Our aim is to provide a rounded, inclusive approach to ensure that you and your child are well supported throughout your therapeutic journey. 

Our name comes from the book The Orchid and the Dandelion, which describes highly sensitive children (HSC) and highly sensitive persons (HSP). We strongly advocate for the support of children who experience strong emotions, and aim to help them to feel in control of their experience. We recognise that this innate sensitivity can be harnessed as an incredibly strength of character with the right support and understanding.
